The story of Brantamort dates back to the 1970s, and spans from Manitoba to Cape Breton Island. For over 45 years, the Clarke Family has proudly maintained purebred lines of Labrador Retrievers, and dedicated their efforts toward breeding and training dogs characterized by favourable disposition, as well as reliable performance in both waterfowl and upland hunting settings. Conservation of the breed is paramount; financial gain is not.

All of our dogs are registered with the Canadian Kennel Club, and are subjected to screenings through the Orthopaedic Foundation for Animals, so as to ensure that undesirable traits are not spread within the breed.

Meet our current breeding dogs

Tosh

Tosh came to us from a reputable breeder and fellow hunter in Nova Scotia. Tosh was birthed in the summer of 2019, and benefitted immensely from the closeness to and attention from the Clarke family and children that coincided with the COVID-19 years. Trained and disciplined from a very early age to perform complicated retrieves, she is a proven performer on land and water. A very well behaved family dog, she is at home in the living room as she is in the field.

Are you a right fit?

This is a question that every potential dog owner needs to ask themselves. We believe that our high quality dogs deserve high quality owners. We usually conduct informal interviews with anyone interested in purchasing one of our dogs to ensure that both the pup and the potential owner will have a happy future together. We do not breed dogs for the financial gain. We breed them because we love seeing our dogs welcomed into homes where they will be loved, cared for, and integrate well into the families to which they are headed.
